"I'm not really a choir director. I'm a singer who knows how to make other people sing."

It's true - Jay was never formally trained on how to lead a choir ... (after all, he majored in business ...)

An important part of Jay is his Christian faith. At the Lutheran church he attends, he directs the contemporary choir and band, and also leads songs with the "small group" of several vocalists and band. Contemporary services are held twice per month at his church ... meaning instead of a traditional organ sound, Jay leads a band with drums, bass, keyboards, and singers.

Jay also leads the Family Singers, a 15 or so-member singing group, which has sung for worship services, banquets, and Christmas/Easter concert events at Immanuel for years. The group is primarily composed of 2 families in Butler, WI - along with their spouses and some of their grown children, who attend other churches in the area. Some non-family members round out the group - “adopted” singers. Their style has been described as uplifting and joyful, with an "older contemporary" feel. They’ve sung at some other Lutheran churches in the Milwaukee area, and also at a few nursing homes, always witnessing their faith through music.

Jay has been able to do this, without even knowing how to direct choirs, It's something that's become learned, and has worked well in his own style, over the past 16 years.

SMALL CONCERTS for CHURCHES

Jay performed a small concert for the ladies of a congregation at a Milwaukee-area Lutheran Church in December of 2004. Jay sang newer contemporary songs about the coming of Christmas. The supportive response he received for doing this has led him to consider offering this small concert format for other churches in the Greater Milwaukee area. CHURCH ONGWRITING

Jay is currently working on several song projects right now. You'll be updated as we get more news. Jay did write a song called, "Walk In Love" for his own wedding almost 15 years ago. It's got a great message, and he will share this with you eventually.
